International symposium with Federal Minister for Education and Research Bettina Stark-Watzinger

On September 5th, MERICS hosted an international symposium on global innovation competition and collaboration in a shifting geopolitical context. We are delighted that Germany’s Federal Minister for Education and Research, Bettina Stark-Watzinger held the key-note speech and joined a panel discussion with outstanding experts.
Speakers and panelists included Signe Ratso, Deputy Director General for Innovation and Research at the European Commission, Jakob Edler, Executive Director of Fraunhofer ISI, Philipp Meyer, Managing Director JFY International, TRUMPF, Tai Ming Cheung, Director of the IGCC, Barry Naughton, So Kwan Lok Chair of Chinese International Affairs at IGCC, Sylvia Schwaag Serger, Professor at Lund University.
The symposium was part of a two-day international academic conference on the Chinese National Innovation and Techno-Industrial Eco-Systems jointly organized by the University of California Institute on Global Conflict and Cooperation (IGCC) and MERICS. You can find the agenda here.
